Appelfeld, Aharon
(b. 1932)
   Israeli writer. Born in Czernowitz, Bukovina, he settled in Palestine in 1947. His stories concern the Holocaust, which he often saw allegorically. They are collected in Smoke, In the Fertile Valley, Frost upon the Land, and In the Wilderness.
